The Litchfield County Children’s Choir

 

    The Litchfield County Children's Choir (LCCC) was founded in 1990 by Christopher E. Shepard and Barbara E. Soderberg. The legacy continued under the direction of Amy F. Bernon, and continues now with Anna Jedd and Barbara Soderberg.

    Since its inception, LCCC has provided musical training and superb choral experiences for hundreds of singers in local communities. Currently, there are two choirs. The Junior Choir serves singers in the 3rd through 6th grade, providing instruction in basic vocal production, music literacy and performance skills. The Senior Choir is comprised of singers in 6th through 12th grades, providing singers with advanced vocal skills, challenging repertoire and multiple performance opportunities throughout the state of Connecticut.

    LCCC offers students a variety of fun and challenging musical experiences including the opportunity to premier new compositions. Rehearsals and two annual concerts are held at The Taft School in Watertown. The singers have also appeared with the Connecticut Choral Society, the New Haven Symphony, the Waterbury Symphony, the Naugatuck Valley Community College Choir, the Waterbury Chorale, and the Connecticut Master Chorale. In addition, LCCC choirs have sung in numerous children's choir festivals and for community events. LCCC is thrilled to be performing with Maestro Knapp and the Connecticut Choral Society.

 

LCCC Directors

    Anna K. Jedd, conductor of the Litchfield County Children's Choir, is a lifelong resident of Watertown. Ms. Jedd is a music educator in the Watertown Public Schools. She was appointed Music Coordinator of the Watertown School System in 1994. She holds a B.S. Music Education from Western Connecticut State University, a M.M. Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, and a Sixth Year Certificate in Music from Central Connecticut State University.

     Ms. Jedd is a member of the American Choral Director's Association and the Connecticut Music Educators Association. She has sung with the Waterbury Chorale, the Connecticut Choral Society, and Alamanda. She has directed the Heritage Singers and the Heritage Village Summer Songsters and  has been a staff member at Seven Angels Theater Camp. Ms. Jedd is Music Director and Organist of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

     Barbara Soderberg, Co-conductor Litchfield County Children's Choir, currently teaches music in the Madison Public Schools and is the Music Director/organist for St. Mary's Church of the Visitation in Clinton, CT. She has taught in several public school systems in Connecticut for many years, in addition to nine years teaching music at Rumsey Hall School in Washington Depot, CT. Mrs. Soderberg holds an B.Music Ed. degree from SUNY, Potsdam, NY and an MS in Music Education from Central Connecticut State University. Having cofounded LCCC with Chris Shepard in 1990, she returns to the group after a five year absence. Mrs. Soderberg is a member of ACDA and Chorister's Guild.
